Thursday Dec. 12 – Tahoe Truckee Weather Forecast
The Tahoe Basin has settled into a pre-Christmas dry spell that will likely last at least another week.
An area of high pressure over the west will continue to push oncoming Pacific storms into the Pacific Northwest and Canada, keeping the Northern Sierra dry and chilly through the weekend. We will likely see freezing fog in some valleys in the morning before clearing later in the day.
A weak low pressure system moving through the Great Basin of Nevada might bring a few clouds to the region Thursday and Friday but not much else, as any precipitation will be limited to far Northern California.
Then the high pressure strengthens again and we should see a slow warming trend into next week.
A low pressure system is forecast to drop down out of the Gulf of Alaska next Wednesday or Thursday, but the current models are showing it bringing little, if any, precipitation to the Tahoe Basin.
We’re going to need a change in the big picture pattern before we get another decent storm. Once that high pressure shifts, the storm track can drop down and take a more direct hit on California. Unfortunately there is no sign it is about to move any time soon. But it will, eventually.
